Cipaganti Mosque

Cipaganti mosque is a large mosque built in the city of Bandung in 1933, the mosque was designed by the famous architect at that time Prof. Charles Prosper Wolff Schoemaker. The reason to build this mosque was the fact that there was plenty of the rich Dutch workers who lived in Cipaganti that needed a place to do the worship to God.

A peculiarity of this mosque is that the Dutch colonial times one can not arbitrarily be Cipaganti mosque Imam, to be an Imam one had to go through a series of tests of the colonial government, the purpose is of course to avoid the adverse action of colonial rule itself. However , if someone was elected to be the Imam of  Cipaganti Mosque, they would have the living allowance or salary from the government.

The mosque is a popular destination for tourists, that take extra interest in architecture and history.
